How to Create an Exploded View in NX

The secrets of Exploded views:-

To start the process of creating an exploded view, you need to make one of the standard model views active.

Typical instructions to create an explosion:-

  1. Start – Modeling
  2. On the Part navigator, open up the list for Model Views and double click on a model view, in our example below we will double click “Trimetric”.
  3. Activate the "Exploded Views" toolbar.
  4. Next click the "New Explosion" icon. We have just created a new explosion and it is now associated with the "Trimetric" Model view.
  5. Using the "Exploded View" tool bar, edit the explosion to achieve the configuration of parts for your drawing.
  6. Start – Drafting
  7. Create/Edit a drawing
  8. Add a base view. On the dialog form, expand the model view group and use the TFR-TRI “Trimetric” model view and place the view on the drawing.
  9. The new view will have the parts in their exploded positions.
  10. To edit the exploded view you need to :-
    1. Start - Modeling
    2. Ensure the "Trimetric" model view is still active
    3. Use the tools on the Exploded View toolbar to move additional parts and hide/show parts etc.
    4. Add tracelines etc.
  11. To update the view, return to the drawing and right click the view border and choose “Update”
     
  12. An Alternatively to 10...
    1. Right Click the view border on the drawing and choose “Expand member view”
    2. The Exploded views toolbar now un-greys and you can edit the explosion in drafting.
    3. Move components to their new positions, hide/show components to achieve the explosion.
    4. Add tracelines etc.
    5. Right Click the view border and toggle off “Expand”
    6. Lastly update the modified view.
