Majenta supplies Autotech with Tecnomatix Robcad robot simulation software for new Jaguar lines.

Software used to simulate new robotic production lines fully prior to their implementation for the production of Jaguar Land Rover’s latest models

Majenta PLM, one of Europe’s leading product development, manufacturing and product lifecycle information management software and IT infrastructure solutions providers, has announced that it has been awarded a contract by leading automation control systems developer Autotech for the supply and implementation of a number of licences of Tecnomatix Robcad robot simulation software.

The software, which enables the design, simulation, optimisation, analysis and off-line programming of multi-device robotic and automated manufacturing processes, has been purchased by Autotech in a strategic move to develop its business for the future. The company has specialist expertise in control systems for a number of industries, including the automotive, logistics, airport baggage handling and food & beverage sectors, with clients that include BMW, Ford, Boots, UPS, Alstec, BAA, Coca-Cola and Kellogg’s. The first projects for which the leading-edge Tecnomatix Robcad software will be used, however, are Autotech’s control solutions for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Tier 1 suppliers FFT EDAG, ABB and Laepple. These projects comprise the development and implementation of the automated body-sides production lines and framing station for JLR’s new small Land Rover at Halewood and the door production cells for the new Jaguar XJ at Castle Bromwich.

It also gives our PLC (programmable logic controller) and robot programmers access to the virtual cells prior to installation, helping to ensure the generation of high quality, right-first-time control software, which again saves time, enabling the customer to get into full production sooner.”
